Calling all somms looking for hands-on experience in making premium Russian River Valley wines: Thomas George Estates is currently seeking applicants for its 2025 harvest crew who will join its small team creating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay; less-common varieties such as Grenache Blanc, Viognier, and Albariño; and Zinfandel from vines planted in 1885. A typical day could involve sampling grapes in the vineyards, followed by cellar tasks such as winery sanitation, fermentation management, crush activities, and barrel work. Internships are expected to begin in August and will continue through October/November, depending on the growing season. The crew does not work nightshifts and will generally have one day off a week during the peak of harvest. The schedule is flexible, and compensation will be $20–$22/hour DOE.
If this sounds like the perfect way to spend your late summer, email a resume and brief cover letter to assistant winemaker Ian Barnes at [email protected].
