Jim Clendenen died in his sleep this past weekend, at age 68. Although I have known him for only about 15 years, the industry has been graced with his presence for decades. He was one of the greats. He brought a presence, perspective, and significance to Santa Barbara County wines, and created one of the most iconic labels, Au Bon Climat.—Meridith May
